About GMST

The Greenbelt Municipal Swim Team (GMST) was established in 1957 and is a charter member of the Prince-Mont Swim League (PMSL). During the summer season, which runs from June through the last week of July, we compete weekly at home and away meets with other PMSL teams. GMST also offers fall and winter/spring swim training programs for its swimmers.

The team holds practices and has home meets at the Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center. During the summer, GMST is sponsored by the City of Greenbelt through a generous grant that funds coaches’ salaries and allows team use of the pool.  GMST is proud to be a municipal swim team, and grateful for ongoing city sponsorship.

While the City of Greenbelt funds the summer season, it is the GMST parents who comprise the Aquatic Booster Club and manage the team year round. Every swimmer’s family is automatically a member of the Aquatic Booster Club. Administrative activities for the team are coordinated by the GMST Board, which is elected annually by the members.

GMST has recently partnered with Severn Crossing in order to offer additional practice time in the evening for those that may not be able to make early morning practices.  We appreciate this partnership with Severn Crossing and anticipate the team growing stronger because of it.
