About GMST

The Greenbelt Municipal Swim Team (GMST) was established in 1957 and is a charter member of the Prince-Mont Swim League (PMSL). During the summer season, which runs from mid-June through the first week of August, we compete weekly at home and away meets with other PMSL teams. GMST also offers fall and winter/spring swim programs for its swimmers. The fall and winter programs are funded entirely by revenues generated by registration fees and by proceeds from various fundraisers held during the summer season.

The team holds practice and has home meets at the Greenbelt Aquatic Center. During the fall, winter, and spring, GMST leases swim lanes for practice sessions. During the summer, GMST is a “City Sponsored Organization” and is granted use of the Aquatic Center by the City of Greenbelt during designated times. Along with all other patrons of the Aquatic Center, GMST adheres to the Center’s rules and regulations.

While the City of Greenbelt funds the summer season, it is the GMST parents who comprise the Aquatic Booster Club and lead the team. Every parent of a swimmer is a member of the Aquatic Booster Club. Administrative activities for the Booster Club and for the team are coordinated by the GMST Board, which is elected annually by the members.
